Ramadan, a holy month observed by Muslims worldwide, entails fasting from dawn till sunset, a practice central to Islamic faith. During this month, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during daylight hours, focusing instead on spiritual reflection, prayer, and acts of charity. Sehri, also known as Suhoor, marks the pre-dawn meal consumed before the day’s fast begins. It’s a time for nourishing the body and preparing for the day ahead. Iftar, the meal to break the fast at sunset, holds great significance in fostering community and gratitude. Families and friends come together to share this meal, strengthening bonds and celebrating the blessings of Ramadan. As the fourth Roza approaches on March 15, 2024, Muslims in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Lucknow, along with others around the world, eagerly anticipate the Sehri and Iftar timings, which vary depending on geographical location and time zone. These timings guide individuals in observing their fasts with devotion and adherence to religious traditions.

Ramadan 2024 Start And End Dates
In India, the holy month of Ramadan 2024 will commence on March 12 and continue for four weeks, concluding with Eid-ul-Fitr on April 10.
Observance of Ramadan Roza
During Ramadan, fasting, or Roza, begins at sunrise and ends at sunset. Consumption of food and water is prohibited between these times. The day is structured around five daily prayers: Fajr (dawn), Zhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (evening), and Isha (night).
Muslim Practices During Ramadan
Muslims observe two significant practices during Ramadan: Suhur and Iftar. Suhur is a pre-dawn meal consumed before the fast begins, while Iftar marks the breaking of the fast at sunset.
About the Holy Month of Ramadan
Rooted in Islamic culture, Ramadan holds historical significance. It is believed to have originated in the seventh century when Prophet Muhammad received the first verses of the Quran during this month. The revelation commenced on Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Power, observed on the 27th night of Ramadan. This night holds immense spiritual value, believed to be more sacred than a thousand months.
Fasting and Spiritual Practices
Fasting during Ramadan is a religious obligation, requiring Muslims to abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during daylight hours. The fast is broken at sunset with the iftar meal, followed by the Maghrib prayer. Ramadan is also a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, and charitable giving. Muslims engage in reading the Quran, attending mosque prayers, and participating in charitable activities to aid those in need.
