Supreme Court Refuses to Stay Counselling, Asks NTA to Give Answers

The Supreme Court asked NTA to answer the paper leak matter on Tuesday. It was hearing a plea from a group of students who wanted to cancel the NEET UG 2024 exam and put a stay on the counselling process. However, the court did not allow a stay in the counselling. NEET UG 2024 took place on 5 May 2024 and the result was published on 4th June 2024. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah issued a notice to NTA asking for answers and said, “sanctity has been affected” and “we need answers”. Let’s know the details more.

Supreme Court’s Decision on NEET UG 2024

The Supreme Court took a middle path on NEET UG 2024 recently addressing concerns surrounding NEET UG 2024. Despite calls for cancellation due to alleged paper leaks, the court decided not to halt the counselling process for medical colleges. The court did not put these students in despair who came for the justice also did not leave the NTA behind.

Justice Amanullah said, “It’s not so simple that because you have done it (conducted the exam), it’s sacrosanct. We need answers for that…The sanctity has been affected. So we need answers”.

“Let the counselling start. We are not stopping the counselling,” said Justice Nath.

A new plea has been filed questioning the validity of the May 5 exam. Students express doubts about the integrity of the exam and urge the court to take action. In the plea, the students said, “After having stumbled upon news of the NEET exam paper leak they have been shaken at the core. Since, the breaking of news on the NEET exam paper leak, the Petitioners are under tremendous stress and anxiety … their family members nurtured the dream of Petitioners becoming a medical practitioner one day.”
