Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Dates, Phases, Candidates, Results
Madhya Pradesh is set to vote in four phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13. The BJP aims to replicate its success from the 2023 assembly elections, where it won 163 out of 230 seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP secured 27 out of 29 seats.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that Madhya Pradesh will vote for its 29 Lok Sabha seats on June 4 across four phases. Approximately 56 million voters are expected to participate in the electoral process.
Recently legislative assembly elections took place in Madhya Pradesh. Bharatiya Janata party won with a great majority. Currently the State of Madhya Pradesh has 29 Lok Sabha Seats. Today the Election Commission of India has released the dates for the Lok Sabha elections in India. The Lok Sabha elections will start from 19th April 2024. Like last general elections this year also elections will happen in different phases. The Election Commission of India has released these dates after much consideration and footwork. For the past 2 months ECI has been continuously doing poll preparedness surveys to ensure that all the States and union territories are ready for handling the upcoming general elections. In Madhya Pradesh BJP won’t be facing much struggle as they would be riding the winning wave of the assembly elections. However , the INDIA bloc will have to put some effort into scoring Seats. Both the groups will soon announce the list of candidates for the constituencies in Madhya Pradesh.

In the first phase on April 19, voting will take place in Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, and Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituencies. The second phase on April 26 will cover Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad, and Betul.
Moving to the third phase on May 7, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, and Rajgarh constituencies will cast their votes. Finally, the last phase on May 13 will see elections in Dewas, Ujjain, Indore, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Dhar, Khargone, and Khandwa.
Madhya Pradesh, currently governed by the BJP, contributes 29 members to the Lok Sabha. In the 2019 elections, spanning four phases from April 29 to May 19, the BJP dominated, securing almost all seats except one. The state typically sees a head-to-head battle between the BJP and Congress, with a high voter turnout of 71.2% in 2019, surpassing the national average.
These elections hold significant importance as they will determine the representation of Madhya Pradesh in the Lok Sabha. Voters across the state will play a crucial role in shaping the political landscape and deciding the future leadership at the national level.
