Below is the list of complete benefits that the newest app from the road and transport ministry mParivahan provides to all the citizens of India.
- The app provides a simple interface to iOS and Android users, allowing them to avail various services without visiting RTOs.
- One is not required to show the physical documents of the vehicle during checking by the traffic police officers. Vehicle owners can show their digital driving license (DL) or registration certificate (RC).
- You can apply for Driving License (DL) and Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) which is valid and accepted everywhere.
- A new DL can be obtained by passing the mock test.
- You can also find the nearest RTO through the app.
- You can get vehicle details through vehicle registration number. In this way, through this application you can get information about any vehicle registered in India.

mParivahan App- How to Register and Sign In?
Below is this step by step process on how to register and sign in on the mparivahan app.
Step 1: Visit Play Store and download the official mparivahan app developed by NIC eGov
Step 2: After installation, open the app. If you are a new user then first sign up by entering your mobile number. An OTP will be sent to your number. Enter the OTP and click on ‘Verify’.
After signing up, click on the Sign In option on the left side of the application. To log in to m parivahan app, enter your mobile number followed by OTP in the prescribed field.

Users can get information about various rules, regulations and policies like Motor Vehicles Act 1988, Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, Carriage by Road Act and Rules, Central Road Fund Act and Rules.
Documents Required for Online Driving License Application
The Union Ministry of Roads and Highways has drafted the teaching curriculum for driving which has been divided into theory and practical. The duration of the course for Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) will be four weeks, which will be 29 hours. Theoretical education will be given in the remaining hours. Some of the required documents to apply for a driving license are:

- Age proof like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Birth Certificate, etc.
- Address proof like Aadhar Card, Passport, Ration Card, Voter ID Card, Utility Bill etc.

How to update driving licence on mParivahan?
Whether your vehicle is a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler, it is necessary to have a valid driving licence issued by the government. The licence contains details such as the driver’s name, date of birth, address and licence number. If you have changed your address, it is necessary to update the address in your driving licence. For this you do not need to visit any Regional Transport Office (RTO) and do any paperwork as the details can be updated online through mParivahan application or Parivahan Seva portal.
The steps to update address in driving licence are given below:
Step 1: Visit the official parivahan.gov.in portal. Click on ‘Driving License Related Services’ under the ‘Online Services’ section.
Step 2: Select State from the drop-down menu. Click on the ‘Apply for Address Change’ option. Click ‘Continue’. Enter ‘Driving Licens Number’ and ‘Date of Birth’ in the given fields.
Step 3: Click on ‘DL Information’ link to verify the details given in the driving licence. Select ‘RTO’ and click on ‘Proceed’. Provide necessary information. Click on the check box given on ‘Change DL Address’ option.
Step 4: Select ‘Permanent’, ‘Current’ or ‘Both’ address options. Click ‘Confirm’. Make the deposit and proceed to pay the fees. The address will be updated.
Users can also track the status of the application for address update by signing in to the website with their login credentials.
How can I get Virtual RC in mParivahan?
Below is the complete steps that you can follow to get a virtual RC in the mParivahan
Step 1: Go to mParivahan app and click on ‘Add to my Dashboard’. Enter your date of birth. DL will be added to the dashboard. Enter vehicle number for RC.
Step 2: Details like insurance validity, fitness expiry date etc will be visible. Click on the ‘Add to my Dashboard’ link. Enter the chassis number and engine number of the vehicle. These details are given in RC.
Step 3 : After verification go to the dashboard and select the DL or RC you want to show to the authorities.
Step 4: A QR code will be generated. Officials will scan this code to verify.
Applicants can check their existing challan online and make payment. If your vehicle is being used by someone else, the RC can be shared with him/her for a certain period through mParivahan.
