Literacy Rates in India 2024: State & Union Territory Breakdown

Literacy is a fundamental indicator of educational development. It is a powerful tool to give a better life to people. It helps to raise the standard of living and overcome poverty. The literacy rate in India is a key indicator of educational development and social progress. It reflects the percentage of people aged seven and above who can read and write in any language(Hindi, English, Local). The benefits of education and literacy are a sombre topic in India. However, the literacy rate in India has seen significant improvement over the years. According to the latest data, the literacy rate in India has improved from 77% to 80% all over India. The government of India is supporting education and spreading awareness among the people. As a result, there is an increase in the literacy rate in India. States such as Kerala, Mizoram, and Tripura are on the list of highest literacy rates states, whereas Bihar, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh have lower literacy rates states.
