Yesterday on 22nd March 2024 it was the first match of IPL 2024 between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The opener match of Indian Premier League 2024 took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK won the match by defeating RCB by 6 wickets. Chennai surely started the season on a great note. CSK VS RCB IPL 2024 1st Innings Highlights
Earlier in the day, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first in the IPL 2024 opener.
After winning the toss Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli opened for the team and gave a good start to the team. Until the reign of CSK bowlers started. The pitch of MA Chidambaram Stadium was favouring spinners owing to which Mustafizur Rahman took the wicket of Faf Du Plessis on 35 runs. After that wickets were just falling like ashes. Rahaman was able to take 4 wickets in just 3 overs and one wicket was taken by Deepka Chahar. Even after losing quick five wickets RCB managed to score 173/6 in 20 overs only. For RCB, Faf du Plessis (35) and Virat Kohli (21) gave a good start, but then RCB lost Cameron Green (18), Glenn Maxwell (0), Rajat Patidar (0) and Cameron Green (18). However, Anuj Rawat (48) and Dinesh Kartik (38*) built a good partnership, leading RCB to score of 173/6 in 20 overs.
For CSK, Mustafizur Rahman picked 4 wickets and Deepak Chahar took one. Now CSK need 174 runs to win the match.
CSK VS RCB IPL 2024 2nd Innings Highlights
While chasing the 174 runs target against RCB CSK ‘ Rachin Ravindra and Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had a good start, Gaikwad at (15) and Ravindra at (37) . Once they went back to the pavilion, Ajinkya Rahane (27) and Daryl Mitchell (22) held the fort , however they were also sent back to the dugout soon. Shivam Dube (*34) and Ravindra Jadeja (*25) which led the defending champions to beat RCB by 6 wickets.
From the side of Royal Challengers Bangalore Cameron Green took 2 wickets while both karn Sharma and Yash Dalal managed to take single wicket each.
Man of the Match CSK vs RCB IPL 2024
Owing to the great bowling performance CSK’s Mustafizur Rahman got the title of Player of the Match for picking up 4 wickets against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Tata IPL 2024 Inaugural Match.
Moreover during this match, Virat Kohli completed his 12000 runs in T20 format while Mustafizur Rahman was able to take the 50th wicket of his IPL career and played a pivotal role in securing a great win for the CSK in the first match of IPL 2024.
The CSK and RCB have played 31 matches so far with each other, where CSK won 20 and RCB won 10. One match ended with no result. Apart from this, CSK won 46 IPL matches played at MA Chidambaram and lost 18 matches.
CSK and RCB have faced each other 32 times in the history of IPL and CSK emerged victorious 21 times while RCB only managed to do so 10 times. Moreover , CSK also holds an impressive record of winning at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Moreover, The legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced Gaikwad as the Captain of the team and he himself stepped down from the post. Under his leadership, Chennai Super Kings won the IPL trophy 5 times — 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
