Amaravati will be New Capital of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu Said

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu today  announced that Amaravati will be the capital of Andhra Pradesh. A day before his swearing-in as the Chief Minister of the state, he announced that Amaravati will be the only capital of the state. Chandrababu Naidu made this announcement while addressing a joint meeting of TDP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janasena MLAs. In this meeting, he was unanimously elected the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

Chandrababu Naidu said, ‘There will be no game in the name of three capitals in our government. Our capital is Amaravati. Amaravati is the capital.’ As the first Chief Minister of divided Andhra Pradesh during 2014-2019, he had put forward the idea of making Amaravati the capital. However, his idea suffered a setback in 2019 when the TDP was out of power and the YSRCP led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy won a landslide victory.

Andhra Pradesh Vidhan Sabha elections.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had scrapped the plan to make Amaravati the capital and came up with a new theory of three capitals, but now Naidu has preferred the single capital decision instead of this theory. The National Democratic Alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena has recently won a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections held simultaneously in the state. The NDA won 164 seats in the Assembly and 21 seats in the Lok Sabha. This victory has given a new lease of life to the Amaravati capital city project. This aims at developing Amravati to international standards worthy of being the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier Andhra Pradesh and Telangana used to share same capital Hyderabad.

TDP has become the second largest party in the NDA alliance by winning 16 seats in the Lok Sabha elections . In the Modi 3.0 cabinet, TDP has got the post of one Union Minister and the responsibility of one Minister of State. The party has got the responsibility of the Civil Aviation Ministry. MP Ram Mohan Naidu will handle this responsibility. They surely hold an important power in the Indian politics and the direct result of this is the new Andhra Pradesh capital that we are seeing today.
