Mumbai Flight Operations: Suspensions, Diversions, and Weather Updates | Latest News

Tempropraliy flights are suspended at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport due to the rain and low visibility. On Monday, there was heavy rainfall and a dust storm in the city, which created low visibility in the clouds. Several airlines are affected by this like SpiceJet and Indigo, Visatara. SpiceJet and Indigo issued a warning for the passenger whereas Vistatea diverted the flight to another airport due to bad weather.

Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) announced that “Due to the inclement weather and dust storms in the city, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) temporarily suspended flight operations for around 66 minutes due to low visibility and gusty winds. Operations resumed at 17:03 hrs. During this time, the airport witnessed 15 diversions”.

List of Mumbai flights diverted

As said, Vistara Airlines diverted its flights. They share an update on its flight operations on the X platform. Here is the list of diverted flights due to bad weather.

  • Flight UK272 from Male to Mumbai (MLE-BOM)- It is diverted to Goa and delayed by arrival time due to bad weather conditions.
  • Flight UK562 from Jaipur to Mumbai (JAI-BOM)- It is diverted to Goa and delayed by arrival time due to bad weather conditions.
  • Flight UK522 Coimbatore to Mumbai (CJB-BOM)- It is diverted to Ahmedabad and delayed by arrival time due to bad weather conditions.
  • Flight UK620 Dehradun to Mumbai (DED-BOM)- It is diverted to Vadodara and delayed by arrival time due to bad weather conditions.

Except for flight suspension and diversion, many Metro and local train services are disrupted by the rain and gusty winds. Many metro services were suspended between Aarey and Andheri East metro stations. between Thane and Mulund stations lines also get affected by the strong winds. a spokesperson from Metro Rail announced the suspension of metro lines for one day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning notification for all the metro stations, especially on the Thane, Palghar and Mumbai.

Apart from this service, the incident of tree fall was observed in some areas of India’s financial capital. In addition, There were moderate showers in the satellite towns of Thane, Ambernath, Badlapur, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar which also affected everyday life there.
