Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited brought this new scheme through an online portal. It is a single-window online solution. The word Jhatpat is a colloquial term in Hindi and Urdu that translates to “quick” or “speedy.” When combined with “Connection,” it offers a rapid solution for the electricity bill. It aims to give a solution in 10 days and reduce the time wasted and hectic process.
Purpose of Jhatpat Connection: The Jhatpat Connection Scheme is available for all residents in the state from BPL(Below Poverty Line) and APL(Above Poverty Line). It is a legal connection by the UP government that is quick and easy for all. However, by jhatpat portal only the below connection of 1 KW to 20 KW load could be applied
- Domestic (BPL Card Holder) – 1 KW load only
- Domestic (Non-BPL) – 1 KW to 500 KW
- Commercial (Non-Domestic) – 1 KW to 20 KW
- Industrial – 1 KW to 20 KW
- Private Institutional – 1 KW to 20 KW
- Temporary Connection – 1 KW to 20 KW
How to Apply For Jhatpat Connections?Â
If you want to apply for a new electricity connection under the Jhatpat Connections Schee, then follow the following steps-
- Visit the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Department, also known as the Jhatpat portal, by clicking on upenergy.in/uppcl/en
- On the homepage, navigate to the Consumer Corner section, and click on the Connection Service.
- Now, find and click on the “Apply for New Electricity Connection” option notification or button.
- Once done you will redirect to a new window. Here you have to select the ‘For New Registration Click Here’ option if you are a first-time user. There are more options which you select accordingly.
- If you are not a first-timer or already registered on the Jhatpat portal, then login to the website with your registered credentials.
- To begin a new user, you can register yourself on the Jhatpat UPPCL portal. After clicking on the “Apply for New Electricity Connection”, a form will appear. Enter your registration details like the applicant’s name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.
- Verify the captcha that you are not a robot and click on the register button.
- Next, you will receive an OTP window, where you have to submit the OTP received on the registered mobile number.Â
- Once the OTP verification is done, your unique Jhatpat login credentials will be sent to your registered mobile number. Save these login credentials for future use.
- Now, log into your account provide all the required documents and submit the page.
- Now, wait for the UPPCL Jhatpat Connection Department to verify your details and documents.Â
- Once the document is verified by the authorities, you will get a confirmation through SMS or Email
- After receiving confirmation notification, you can start a count of ten days. The Jhatpat Electricity Connection Meter will be installed within 10 days at your provided resident address.

- An original and copy of Aadhar Card: It is a unique number card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).Â
- An original and copy of the Resident Certificate with details of the permanent residence: A property paper will work
- An original and copy of Voter ID Card: A card issued by the Election Commission of India.
- An original and copy PAN Card: A permanent Number Card issued by the government for taxation work.
