Indian Kabaddi Teams: Asian Games Performance, Players, and Schedule 2024 Updates
Indian Kabaddi Team represents India in International kabaddi matches and competitions. In our country, the men’s Kabaddi team has been a very successful national Kabaddi side till now. In 1990 (the initial year the sport was challenged), the Indian team won gold medals at the Asian Games.
While the players took the field in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, revenge was the top priority among the Indian men’s and women’s Kabaddi teams. Now the men’s team wants to settle for bronze as previously they have only won the gold but in nine editions. Yet the women’s team was limited to silver.

In 1990, the very initial time when kabaddi was initiated to the Asian Games. The gold was won by the Indian men’s team seven times before it was defeated by Iran in the semi-final in the year 2018. But later, the Indian team completed with bronze in 2018.

After women’s kabaddi was established in 2010, gold was won by India in both 2010 and 2014, but had to negotiate for silver in the year 2018 final after Iran defeated them.

In the United States of America, kabaddi and the Pro Kabaddi League have become as popular and famous as basketball and the National Basketball Association (NBA). In that situation, it would be a severe upset if any team other than them took home or won the gold because all of the skills and infrastructure are in India. Therefore, one is expecting nothing less than gold from the Indian kabaddi teams, both male and female.

The Schedule of India Kabaddi Teams
The players will fight for 2 more gold medals in the kabaddi competition at the Hangzhou Asian Games, which will occur in the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre from October 2 to October 7. Specific teams’ schedules are still not announced.
A 12-player Indian men’s kabaddi team coached by star raiders Pawan Sehrawat and Naveen Kumar will compete in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China, the following month.
The sports ministry announced the Indian team for the expected Asian Games on Friday.
Additionally, a 12-player Indian women’s kabaddi team has been introduced for the Asian Games. A few of those who qualified for Hangzhou are silver medallists at Jakarta 2018 such as Ritu Negi, Sakshi Kumari, and Sonali Vishnu Shingate.

The I.G. Stadium in Delhi, India hosted the men’s team tryouts and trials on July 9 and the SAI Center in Bengaluru hosted the women’s team tryouts on July 10.
In 1990, Beijing, China hosted and introduced the Asian Games, where Kabaddi made its debut. Since then it has been included throughout every Asian Games program.
At this point in the Asian Games, the men’s team from India has won 7 out of the 8 gold medals. They had to work and play hard for a bronze after losing to Iran in the Jakarta 2018 semi-final.
The Indian men’s kabaddi team has only lost twice in 8 Asian Games, and both times in Jakarta 2018.
India defeated Iran in the championship/final match to win the Asian Kabaddi Championship this past month. Hooda and Narwal did not participate in the competition or tournament.
In Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, inside the District Sports Complex, Wadia Park, Tilak Road, the 70th Senior National Kabaddi Championship Men is being conducted. Finals are scheduled and announced for March 24. The event is currently taking place over 4 days, beginning on March 21, and will be hosted by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI).
Many Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) members are expected to be included in the senior Kabaddi national team. Players who compete and participate in the Senior National Kabaddi Championship in 2024 will be inspected by the Indian national Kabaddi team. The current champions and 4-time winners, Indian Railways, will begin the match or competition as the favorites.
It is predicted that the competition will serve as a battlefield for both established and experienced players, so fans will see an entertaining display of strategy, skill, planning, and teamwork from all of the teams.
There is a lot of excitement and hype regarding the event because it will act as a talent/skill-showing ground for Pro Kabaddi League teams ahead of the season 11 auction, which takes place in the coming months.
The majority of teams have declared their squads for the competition and believe that none of their members or players will have any diseases, illnesses, or injuries. The competition is simple and clear, with several matches played in just one day. While many players are returning from a demanding 4-month Premier League, they are used and habitual of playing nonstop, but teams still expect that their players won’t get harmed or catch any injuries.
In the current year, up to thirty Indian teams are participating and competing in the country’s top inter-state kabaddi championship. 8 teams have been established and introduced out of them; 3 sides each make up 2 teams whereas 4 sides make up the remaining six teams or groups.
Group B is made up of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and New Delhi whereas Group A consists of BSNL, Indian Railways, and Madhya Pradesh.
Group C comprises West Bengal, Goa, Manipur, and Bihar while Group D includes Haryana, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand are among the states competing in Group E, whereas Telangana, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka are included in Group F.
At the same time, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Kerala are in Group G.
Group H includes Services, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Punjab.
Every team will play and compete with every other team one time from their separate groups, by having the top 2 teams moving on to the round of 16.
In the last game of the day, Bihar defeated West Bengal 40–31 to finish off a thrilling day of final match or competition.
A highlight or event of the domestic kabaddi calendar, this tournament and championship gives up-and-coming players a chance and opportunity to take on experienced players and open doors and opportunities to the Indian national team, which is known for its supremacy and power in international kabaddi.
