COAP stands for Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP): It is the GATE counselling process for  Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)  admissions and participating Institutes of National Importance (INI). GATE COAP is the process of admission offer for the candidate who has qualified for the postgraduate program (M.Tech, M.Des, M.S., and PhD). As per the latest news,  COAP registration 2024 will start on March 18. There are five main rounds and five additional rounds for the exam. Candidates who successfully clear the GATE in the year of the year 2024/2023/2022 can register for COAP Registration 2024.

How To Apply For COAP Registration 2024?

You can start COAP Registration 2024 from 18 March. Here are the simple steps to apply for the COAP Registration 2024.

  • To begin the registration process, visit the official COAP website, (https://coap.iitm.ac.in/)

  • On the home page, locate and click on the “Registration Now” or “New Registration” button to begin the registration process.

  • A registration form will appear on the page, where you have to enter your details like name, date of birth, gender, contact number, email address, etc. Ensure all the details are careful because you can not alter them later.

  • Next, fill in all the required academic qualifications like undergraduate degree details and relevant examination scores (such as GATE or equivalent). In addition, provide information like GATE registration number, score, and rank, too.

  • Now upload your scanned copies of required documents like Aadhar card, academic certificate, GATE scorecard, etc.

  • Once you fill in all the required details with the required documents, verify them and submit the registration form.

  • Once the registration is complete and documents are verified, you will have the opportunity to fill in your choices of participating institutes and programs.

  • Carefully fill in your preference for the examination centre as per your location, faculty and placement.

  • Submit your choice on the COAP portal

Eligibility Criteria for COAP Registration 2024

To apply for the COAP Registration 2024, candidates must ensure the eligibility criteria. here are the following eligibility criteria-

  • Candidate must appear and qualify in the Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering (GATE) or any other relevant examination

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study from a university.

  • Candidates must have a valid GATE score or rank card. It is the primary basis for shortlisting candidates for admission to PG programs.

  • Participating institutes may specify minimum GATE score/rank requirements for eligibility

  • The candidate must be an Indian national. Foreign national candidates are also eligible for admission to specific programs only.

  • There is no age limit for COAP registration. All age group candidates can apply for it.

  • Candidates must have a GATE Admission Card with the candidate’s photograph, signature, GATE registration number, and examination details.

  • Candidate must have 19+2 mark sheet, degree certificate

  • Category or caste certificate if belonging to the  SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD to verify your category status.

  • A recent passport-size photograph in the specified size, format and resolution.

  • A valid email address and mobile number for OTP, Notification or any update.

  • Additional Documents like experience certificates, research papers/publications, project reports

With the COAP Registration Date, the GATE COAP also releases the examination date. If you successfully applied to the COAP Registration, check the COAP Exam date for reference to start your preparation according to that-

  • For COAP 2024 Main Round 1 of offers:  13 May ’24 – 15 May ’24

  • For COAP 2024 Main Round 2 of offers:   20 May ’24 – 22 May ’24

  • For COAP 2024 Main Round 3 of offers:   27 May ’24 – 29 May ’24

  • For COAP 2024 Main Round 4 of offers:   02 Jun ’24 – 04 Jun ’24

  • For COAP 2024 Main Round 5 of offers:   08 Jun ’24 – 10 Jun ’24

  • For COAP 2024 Round 6 additional rounds of offers:  15 Jun ’24 – 17 Jun ’24

Once the registration is complete on the portal, the allotment process begins for the COAP Exams. Based on the choice-filling stage, COAP will conduct multiple rounds of seat allotment based on candidates’ preferences and merit ranks. All the candidates will receive the notification or updates in their email address or on their mobile number through SMS. Hence, we suggest you regularly check your mail, SMS as well as COAP portal for recent updates. Within some days, candidates will get the admission offer, which you can accept or reject with a special time duration on the COAP portal. Candidates who will accept the admission offer must have to pay the acceptance fee to the specific institute to confirm the admission.

In future, COAP runs additional rounds to refill the vacant seats or withdraw seats. Hence, candidates who didn’t get any admission offer should be alert about it. There is one more chance for you to get the COAP Admission. You need to relax and be patient to get your results. If you didn’t get allotment in the 1 to 5 rounds, be patient for 6 or additional rounds.
