The approximately 3,754 km long NH 7 is the largest highway in the country. This highway connects about 21 major cities of the country. This highway originates from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and ends in Jammu and Kashmir. It passes through Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The approximately 3,507 km long NH 27 is the second longest highway in the country. This highway passes through about 7 states and about 27 cities. 6. NH-6

The approximately 1,873 km long NH-6 is the sixth largest national highway in the country. This highway connects cities and states like Jorabhat, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand etc. NH-6 Plays an important role in connecting north eastern India with the mainland. The north east region of the Indian Peninsula is largely inaccessible due to only one way of transport being present there which is the chicken neck corridor.
