Jalandhar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results

 Today, the Election Commission of India finally declared the Lok Sabha election result for Jalandhar for 2024. The election took place on 1st June 2024. As per the results, the (……) party has won by (……) seats. Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency is also one of Punjab’s 13 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies. Seven prominent parties contested for seats, namely Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar(SAD A), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI M). Jalandhar has witnessed a contest among seven major parties this year: INC, SAD, AAP, BJP and SAD(A).

The next political party, after BJP and INC, in Jalandhar is Aam Aadmi Party. AAP is the current governing body in Punjab. Its chief minister, Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann, belongs to the Aam Aadmi Party.

 

The next major party is SAD, the second oldest party in India after Congress, established in 1920.  Sukhbir Singh Badal leads it.

SAD (Amritsar) is a small group of SAD. It is another Sikh Nationalist political party. It became more famous after the deaths of Deep Sidhu and Sidhu Moose Wala, who were great supporters of this party.

 

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also took part in the election. This party essentially represents the “Bahujan,” which means scheduled casts, scheduled tribes, other backward classes, and religious minorities. It was founded by Kanshi Ram in 1984.

Being one of the national parties of India, the CPI (M) is the largest communist party in India for membership and electoral seats. It is a small part of the Communist Party of India, which was founded in 1964.

Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituencies and candidates:

In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, different candidates contested from seven different parties.

 

Charanjit Singh Channi represented the INC. Apart from being an Indian politician, he was also the 16th chief minister of Punjab. He was the first Dalit to serve Punjab as a chief minister.

Pawan Kumar Tinu was contesting for AAP. He has been a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and Shiromani Akali Dal. However, in April 2024, he joined AAP.

 

Mohinder Singh Kaypee fought on behalf of SAD. Previously, he belonged to the Indian National Congress.

Sushi Kumar Rinku stood for the BJP. Previously, he was a part of AAP. He is also a member of parliament from the Jalandhar constituency and a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly since 2017.

 

Balwinder Kumar was contesting from the BSP. He was professionally an advocate. From CPI(M) Purshottam Lal Bilga was the candidate who was a retired government teacher. Jagvir Singh Sahungra was contesting from SAD(A). He is the son of Shingars Ram Sahungra who was an ex-BSP MLA.
